The PCH Prize Patrol was dispatched on August 31, 2011 to deliver a life changing SuperPrize to one lucky sweepstakes winner. En route, members of the prize award team Danielle Lam, Dave Sayer and Natalie Bostelman dropped hints about their destination and answered fan questions on the PCH Facebook Fan Page. One fan guessed the Granite City, IL location from a photo of the Prize Patrol van parked in front of a school.

With local St. Louis TV-viewing area news reporters following closely, the Prize Patrol headed to the winner’s house. He must have seen the van pull up, because sweepstakes winner Larry Brown was already outside when the team reached the doorstep toting the Big Check, balloons, roses and champagne. He dropped nearly to his knees upon hearing he won $1 Million and repeatedly exclaimed, “Now I know it’s real! Publishers Clearing House … now I know it’s real!”
